Install the Zoom App on the device you will be using to take the class (computer, tablet, or smartphone). The Zoom Basic plan is free.
Book your class. Once you have registered for class you will receive an email confirmation. The link for the Zoom class is at the bottom of the confirmation – click on “Join Event”. Once you click on “Join Event” follow the instructions that may include a few more prompts and clicks. When the system is all set on your end I receive notification that you are waiting to join class. I will prompt the system to let you join the class.
I recommend you register and join class at least 10 minutes before the class starts – you will need that time to get your link, settle in and connect with me before class begins. If you register earlier that 10 minutes prior please join class at least 5 minutes before class begins
Set up a practice area in your home. Some students practice in front of their couch, next to a bed, or an open wall. Any open space will do.
Set up the device that you will be using at about waist height, 6-10 feet away from your practice space.
A good rule of thumb – look at yourself on the screen once you have logged in. If you can see yourself well on the screen so can I. What you see is what I see. I would like to see all of you while sitting or lying on your mat as well as when you are standing.
My classes like most Iyengar classes will use a few props. Props you will need. We will sometimes use a chair. If you don’t have a yoga chair - A dining chair with no side arms works well. We may use a wall during our practice – it can be somewhere other than your practice space in your home.
Please enter the class 5-10 minutes before the start time. That gives you time to connect with me, make sure your audio and video is set and settle in for a nice class experience. These minutes before class are very important for your safety and mine.
I prefer that your video is on. I can give you safer guidance.
Please have your audio on mute. I will mute you if you do not remember to mute yourself.
If you have any questions, or run into issues during class, please communicate with me by unmuting your mic. You can also just depress the space bar and speak.
You will enjoy the class most if you view in “full screen” mode. At the end of class, you may want to say hello to everyone in “gallery” mode.
There will be time after class to connect with me. If you would like to connect with me about something private, please text or email.
