This class takes on an unhurried pace to achieve deep and focused stretch while maintaining engagement of the body and mind. Students experience careful attention to anatomical alignment with the support of yoga props such as blankets, blocks, and straps. Props allow the body to fully explore each position comfortably and safely. Classical Iyengar style hatha postures are explored with variations to accommodate all levels of experience with the practice.
Beginners Welcome.
Tuesdays 9:30-11:30am
Saturdays 9:00-10:00am
Iyengar inspired classical Hatha yoga postures are studied. Twists, forward folds, backbends and inversions are expertly sequenced to allow for an awakening of the wholeness in each pose. The pace and intensity is guided by what is needed by the students in class. Care is taken to offer alternatives for those who wish to explore a deeper expression of a posture and for those who wish to explore a gentler variation. Yoga props are used to support the practice. Each class is an opportunity to discover the wisdom of your body and quiet the mind. Six months regular yoga practice is recommended.
Sundays 2:30-4:30pm
Once a Month
Restorative yoga, pioneered by B.K.S. Iyengar and made widely popular by Judith Lasater, helps to eliminate fatigue and stress that results from daily activities. It aids in recovery from illness, injury, and trauma. A consistent restorative practice helps the body be less vulnerable to stress-related illnesses and helps achieve optimal health. Through a mindful sequence of restorative asanas, students will compassionately set up the conditions that will allow relaxation to unfold. The practice combines breath awareness, readings and gentle music to create an atmosphere that is contemplative and quieting. Everyone is welcome.

Quarterly - March, June, September & December
Join Dorinda one Sunday each quarter for an afternoon of thoughtfully sequenced, long-held yin yoga poses designed to release tension in the body, promote relaxation and mental balance. By targeting the deepest layers of the body, a regular yin yoga practice instructs the mind and body to find a sense of calm and inner peace.
A yin yoga practice consists of a series of long-held passive stretches done on the floor, using a variety of yoga props to support the body. It mildly stresses joints and adds a tensile load to connective tissue. The slow and meditative nature of yin yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for body restoration and rest. This activation reduces stress and anxiety, lowers blood pressure, and promotes overall well-being. A minimum of 6 months consistent yoga practice is recommended.
Sundays 2:30-4:30pm
3-4 Consecutive Months

Past topics have included yoga for: immunity, anxiety, fatigue, depression, and insomnia. Others have concentrated on the practice of Pranayama, meditation, and restorative yoga.
